Any fountain pen people here?

Postby FastSRT8 » Mon Oct 01, 2012 3:57 pm

Wondering if there are any pen users left in an era of emails and texts.

I have just got the 'illness' of fountain pens and am currently rocking the following three on a rotation...

  • Yard o Led - Retro
  • Faber Castell - Intuition Black
  • Montblanc - Starwalker Doue

I love fountain pens. My grandmother was big in calligraphy, and when I was growing up, she always used to say that fountain pens help you train your hand writing better than ball point pens. Although I now only use pencils and ball point pens, I would love to get some good fountain pens to use! I love the sound it makes.

True! The sound and feel on paper is not duplicated by the ball point pen.

I would be if not for 2 reasons. First, I constantly let people borrow my pen, which breaks the first rule of fountain pens. Second I'm a Math teacher so 99% of the time I'm using a pencil or the dreaded red marker.

I also like the size and weight of the old Cross Century, of which I have many different types. I carry the 14k gold .9mm pencil everywhere. I did read an article about a fountain pen being found in a deep sea wreck, and after a little cleaning it was able to write with the original ink. Pretty badass if you ask me.

If you are mainly a pencil user, try and get a vintage Yard-O-Led mechanical pencil. This is what made them famous years ago. Now that is badass!

Holy ****! I have a Tiffany Silver Century that Im afraid to use because I don't want to damage it. I might actually carry a silver Yard-O-Led though. That looks beastly.
