I was at home, my dad had just woken me up to go to school (4th or 5th grade at the time). Was walking down the stairs and remembering my mom watching the news and my mom said to my dad that I should stay home today because of what happened.

I was home sick sitting on my couch bed in the living room. I was in 5th grade at the time. I was home alone and watching cartoons, then my grandma called and said to turn on the TV. I watched it all unfold, then she picked me up and we stopped at the store and while she was inside the radio said the 2nd tower just collapsed.

I'm a Firefighter/EMT right now, and since I was a child I wanted to be. I remember watching the news coverage wishing I was 18 and that I'd already been through the Fire Academy and EMT school. If I was, I would have gotten my gear from the department, got in my car, and driven to NYC to participate with the rescue efforts for as long as needed. I'm not just saying that either. I would have went in a heartbeat given the opportunity.

I was at school when it happened. Now I work in Grupa Trinity, in high glass building (business city of Breslau) and (fortunately!) I can only imagine what those people could feel trapped in WTC. I remember I took the decision that day — that I am going to study psychology. I wanted to help people in critical situations.

I was 7 years old, and i was at home at the time. I had no idea what the World Trade Center was, but I still understood what was happening to a degree.
