Actually the only phase out was by satellite monitoring of 121.5. Local monitoring by coast guard and search and rescue (planes, man overboard ELTs) will still remain on 121.5 even after the 2009 phase out of the satellite monitoring.

not a huge watch fan sadly. Even if i am wearing mine i usually go for my phone rather than tilt my arm just to kill to birds with one stone by checking my notifications and such. But, when i do choose to wear one i go with my Oakley Judge I, cost me about 700$ a few years back when i was in high school. Got it as a gift for myself for making 300% profit off as small time collection. havent seen anything reasonable that i would be interested in as of late, but i may have to take a second look now XP

Thanks that's good to know.... I was wondering about the phase out. I think that is one cool watch.

jlam572 wrote:Nice pieces guys. I like the rolex, when I bought my breitling It was a toss up between the rolex sub, the breitling, or the omega (james bond one) lol. I ended up getting the breitling cuz Im a pilot so the emergency beacon may come in handy one day.

Craigm1, load your pic on an online server...mine is on FB. Copy the URL, and then you can see at the top of your reply box there is a little picture...it says "insert image" when you scroll over it. Just click that, paste your URL, and preview your picture.

The Rolex GMT watch i have, actually started as a request from Pan-Am. They asked Rolex to make a watch for their pilots with 2 time zones, so GMT is definitely a watch for pilots.

Did you ever service your Breitling emergency yet? I heard it's suppose to be very expensive to get a service on that watch.
I also looked at the Breitling emergency once, just this version instead Image and what made me decide not to get it, was the expensive service price, and that it's not waterproof, which doesn't make sense, since most of the time airplanes are over water. I don't know about your model if thats waterproof?
