What IS your wallet?

Postby jeffysdad » Wed Jun 13, 2012 3:02 pm

Several years ago I switched from carrying a traditional billfold with 6-8 card slots (usually a Coach) in my back pocket to carrying front-pocket wallets. Some of my favorites (you should be able to Google most of not all of these by name):

The Slimmy and Slim Slimmy by Koyono. Small enough to fit in a front shirt pocket, three slots open on two sides: one for cash, one for a couple of credit cards and one for driver's license and insurance cards. Slimmy requires folding cash once; Slim Slimmy requires folding cash twice and is therefore less convenient if you pay with cash more than infrequently. There's an international model to accommodate larger currencies. I see now that they're making a top-shelf model out of better leather that costs about 100 bucks. Gotta get one of these.

Single Fold Card Case from Tusting in the UK. Sterling & Burke in Washington used to carry Tusting but no longer does. I believe this can be ordered directly from the manufacturer, but you'll pay more for it. It's a gusseted card case whose large pocket will accommodate cash folded once. There are four slots for cards. This is a beautifully made piece and holds a lot for a wallet small enough to fit in a front pocket. It's what I carry when I don't want to travel as light as the Slimmy/Slim Slimmy require.

WaterfieldDesign Cash & Carry zipper wallet. One large main pocket zips open on two sides. Plenty of room for cash and even some coins, smaller pockets on both sizes have plenty of room for five or six credit card each or license, insurance cards, etc. Comes in nylon and leather versions. Larger than the two above and less formal. More secure than the Slimmy.

Taxi Wallet. Opens like a billfold and snaps closed. One large snap pocket on outside can hold coins with smaller pocket inside for holding cards. This is the one when you're going to be carrying and using cash more than cards.

Sport Slimmy Sling Wallet. Small nylon pouch can hold a few cards and some cash. Has a strap with a keyring on the other end. You wear it inside your shorts when you don't have pockets. Really just for the beach.

I do the same. I want to keep cards limited to 4-6 (hard to do as drivers license, care card, bank card and insurance card is already 4)

I have too many credit cards so a fold wallet is just too thick. I contacted this guy who made watch straps for me last year and he's making me a credit card holder. I'm excited for it.

Main Card: Amex Platinum
For gas: Penfed Platinum Cash Rewards
For travel & dining: Chase Sapphire Preferred

AGP, That sounds cool. I'd be interested to see the custom wallet you wind up with. Please post a pic if/when you're able.

My mom went to Pakistan a few years ago, (I am of Indian-paki descent) and she brought me a custom wallet that has my name on it. It's pretty cool, and it's leather. It's been good to me for a long time.

its a really good wallet, i have had it for about 7 months now.

the only thing is when pulling out your cards it kinda scuffs the card up and you end up losing/scrubbing off some of the numbers on your card.

I roll with 2 regular coach wallets, a giant coach wallet for suits, and a louis vuitton wallet. I also have a Coach card holder.

I stopped wearing my wallet in my back pocket because my chiropractor stated i messes up my back. I only carry cards when the billing cycle has closed. I never carry more than half of the cards in my signature. Like someone else said, I need my insurance card, driver's license, and check/debit card in there as well. One of my coach wallets has a removable card holder that I use if I'm going out. I am going to use my card holder when I'm dressed up and don't want unsightly bulges in my pants.
