Amex emergency card replacement not as fast as I thought

Postby FastSRT8 » Tue May 08, 2012 10:50 pm

I am NOT a big player and as such, they (AMEX) have not been able to as quickly as I thought they could turn around my wife's supplementary Centurion card delivery. I thought they can do cards overnight but....I have been waiting 5 weeks AND they have failed to deliver to me 2 cards!!!!

Let me clarify. This was the welcome card and kit from Amex. The first card I did not get as it was not received in my office by my receptionist who didn't know my wife by name and refused the package. This was my fault.

After waiting for weeks, I called Amex and they told me what happened and after waiting for 4 days for the card to comeback which it did not, they re-issued a new card and sent it over. I never got that as apparently Canada Post 'could not' deliver it :( . Amex didn't call nor did the post office so it sat and sat until today when I called Amex who after checking informed me the package was on it's way back to them yesterday!!!

I asked them to FEDEX it so I will get it in my office but noooooooo... Amex Canada wanted to use Canada Post. Those guys have not successfully delivered 2 cards so I'm not going to hold me breath.

To make matters worse, I am off on the 18th for a trip to HK and NEED for my wife to have her credit card for shopping.

Alas... guess it's partially my fault for trusting them and taking my eye off the ball; working hard.

did you lose your card? as far as getting cards replaced I rember seeing the old American express commercials, they said if a card was lost or stolen it would be replaced within 24 hours. if your just sighing up your wife for the same card you have this might take some time.
as compared to visa took 3 days.
rember the old days.

They can make cards on the spot at some of their travel offices. Probably have to settle for plastic though.

i know this is a pain in the ass, but here in one option that will work. tell them are traveling to hk, and they will be able to issue a plat supplementary to either pick up or send to your hotel. i would call them and tell them to issue one ASAP, and send it to your hotel. on your arrival you should be able to pick it up... i know this bc i had them issue a 2nd supplementary while i was in hong kong

Wow, that's sad on Amex's part, I mean, if they can do all the other insane requests but not be able to send a centurion member replacement cards, I would complain and get some points out of it or something haha. Keep us posted if they arrive before your trip!

They promised I will have it before I go so let's see if they can do it. Heck they have done some pretty difficult things so this should be easy.
