SHARE your wildest concierge request which was filled.

Postby FastSRT8 » Wed Apr 25, 2012 11:36 am

I'm always curious how others use the concierge service on their credit cards (those which offer it). Wonder what is the most outlandish request actually done.

This could be an interesting read.

I'm pretty lame. I mostly call for concert tickets... oh wait, there was this one year my nephew was so into Batman and wanted a Batman costume for Halloween. I called Amex and they not only got it, they delivered it right to my nephew's home WITH my name on the box LOL. Pretty cool if you ask me.

Thanks

I usually use them for dinner reservations when I'm out of my area or around crowded days, like New Years Eve and Mothers Day.

I had them get me hockey tickets for Florida .

LOL looks like we are all 'Lame" and not much good for Amex for advertisement. I used them to get me hockey tickets too but sometimes I wonder if they are any better than Ticketmasters as I am sure they use them to procure the tickets. I think the benefit is, we don't have to wait on line or on the tele to get them.

I thought they may have an inside man to help get these but I wonder if they really do.

American Express uses which ever agent holds the contract for tickets (Ticketmaster/Livenation) and usually has reserved seats, and early ticket procurement programs setup for card members.

About 3 years ago one of the trust/estate attorneys had a client who wanted geological samples done at 4 horse farms he (the client) was interested in buying. I called Centurion concierge, and they had geologists onsite the next day conducting the tests, and making recommendations on a few other unlisted properties which were up for sale and would meet his needs.

About 10 years ago my son was into space/astronauts, American Express set him up with a ride on a Zero-G plane and 3 weeks at a summer camp at the Russian Space HQ with all sorts of tests and such he was allowed to run that were actually part of the Russian space program. They planned every last detail, found security to be with him while he was in Star City, and arranged a dinner with the President of Russia and the head of the Russian space agency to discuss the history of the Russian/Soviet space programs and the cooperation between Russia and the US on space exploration.

Needless to say, I am a very happy card member.

Damn JCarter! Now you have given me the courage to actually ask for them to help me with anything.

What holds me back from asking is the 'fear' to be laughed at on the phone or worse still to be told to take a hike. Your stories have given me hope.

I have a business trip to plan for 9 people to a remote area for a wind farm development. Maybe I will ask them to do a price comparison of flying us all there on a commercial jet versus a private one. I know the cost will be really close if not negligible.

Your astronauts story is truly amazing. Maybe I can private message you as I have a question I want to ask in private.

JCarter, forgot to ask... do you know if the US Centurion Concierge would have different and/or more far reaching influence than say the Canadian one? I know for a fact that your US concierge # at the back of the card is different from the Canadian one. This leads me to believe they are a different service altogether? IF SO, then there may also be a difference on the kind of requests we are able to make.

Yes but that is the reason I posted this thread! I wanted to know if AMEX actually comes thru more of then than not on the outrageous requests OR if a lot of what we hear are urban legends.
