the macbooks retina display is amazing. the imac is my first mac, always had pc. i figured i'll give it a shot since i'm into photography and i'm a minimalist.

nice... I recently got the 28" imac and it's nice. So clear and the big display is great for doing graphics.

You mean 27" iMac right? There is no such thing as a 28" iMac.
I have had my second 27" iMac for a year now, and I love it. I do a lot of Graphic Design, retouching etc., and that just work perfect for me.
