Buying New iPad (1st World Problem)

Postby rockyrock » Mon Feb 13, 2017 8:55 am

My iPad is a 2 or 3, I can't remember but I bought it in spring of 2012. It's a device I see no need to upgrade often as I only do simple stuff like read, browse, email, & stream video with it. It is starting to become obsolete though.

The ios is capped and now apps are starting to say device not supported when I try to update them. The cellular is 4G but not LTE and it is (relatively) heavy. It also has the old 19pin charger so it doesn't work with any chargers or accessories. I can actually deal with almost all that but the performance is really starting to lag. Everything is slow, choppy and it pauses often during use.

I've decided an iPad Mini is the right device as a replacement. I am also a huge fan of buying things refurbished from Apple as it has the same warranty as a new one. My issue is the most recent Mini is two year old technology already. Knowing that I like to keep tablets for at least five years, I hate to enter at the two year mark as I could run into all my current issues sooner.

Anyone heard any rumors of a new Mini on the horizon?

Any other thoughts or comments? FYI: I have no interest in an Android device, I have a MacBook, iPhone, & Apple TV and like how the ecosystem works together.

Thanks
