Innovis Credit Report?

Postby PhillyPhoto » Wed Jun 01, 2016 8:51 am

I'm looking at what I can do to discharge my student loans (the school closed and has a class action lawsuit against it). Looking at my Navient account (formally Sallie Mae), they said they report to the 3 regular agencies, as well as Innvois. Has anyone heard of them before? I've seen a couple articles and forum posts here and there, but a lot of it seems to be years old. I don't think they have a lot payment history and other items you see on the larger agency reports, and they don't offer the free annual report online - it has to be mailed to you. Just curious what others have seen before I pull the trigger on this report.

I've never heard of this company but looking at the link in your post here is what was on their about us page:

We provide innovative consumer data solutions for businesses through:
Identity Verification
Fraud Prevention
Receivables Management
Credit Information

It looks like they buy student loan data from schools and lenders then make their money pretending to be a credit bureau and trying to sell identity verification and collections services to companies. Personally, I would ignore them and only worry about what's on your credit reports from the big three. I can't imagine that any bank or company running a credit check would use anything other than Experian, Equifax or TransUnion reports. Maybe Innovis' prices are lower and they sell their credit data to niche markets like small used car dealers, etc. That's just my guess.

When my mortgage broker pulled my credit for a refinance application in January, the actual HP showed up from "CBC Innovis". The same thing happened with the original mortgage (different broker) two years earlier. That's the only place I can recall encountering them. Kind of like a middle man for credit reports, I guess?

If you can't get someone to speak to from this financing company then mate, please get something sorted out now. The red flags should have gone up when you took out the loan from whoever you took it out from. If this company has been swindling others then you need to report them and get the police on the case pronto.
