Any long time members still on this forum?

Postby beef.stu » Fri Nov 20, 2015 3:29 am

Just wondering if there are any long-time members out there that still visit, but perhaps dont post much anymore.

Occasionally I will see a familiar username from around the time I first joined/was more active this forum, but dont post much anymore because I am pretty comfortable with the cards that I have. Now I just visit from time to time to make sure that there arent any new cards out there or big changes coming to the cards that I have.

Credit forums are a little odd in that they do not seem to retain members like other forums do
(01/10) - Wells Fargo VISA Platinum
(05/10) - Techron Advantage
(10/12) - Amex BCE
(02/13) - Chase Freedom VISA
(09/13) - Discover It
(03/14) - Sallie Mae WMC
(09/15) - Citi Double Cash WEMC
(09/16) - US Bank Cash+ VISA Signature

I think many people eventually just get bored with it. There's really only so much to discuss, especially when there isn't much going on in the way of changes etc.

This forum is slower but IMO its of better quality. While myfico and flyertalk are busier, they also have plenty of useless threads started each day. At least here, the threads tend to be more purposeful.

I try to visit twice a week to see what's up. I'm not active as I was the first year or so. The membership seems to come in cycles and the same topics come around every few months once the thread drops off the first page. It did seem when I joined there were many more active members.

Chase: Freedom & UA Club USAA: Signature Visa & American Express

It seems like a lot of the regulars, especially the more reasonable ones, have dropped off in posting, and the forum is full of newer people who ask basic questions and dont stay long. Its a very different feel even from a year ago.

My guess is the regulars could only put up with so much bs

All the information one wants is out there for the taking. This site is set up so you don't have to really post to find out more about a specific credit card.

I personally thought posts decreased a lot after they changed the format of the site a few months ago. I wasn't a member at that point and wasn't posting, but I was still reading all the posts and they seem to have decreased substantially, but I could be wrong.

The Discover / Diner's Club section, for example, has had like 10 posts in the last few months... That being said, they only have 2.5 products and not much changes that often so it's not unreasonable. It just seemed to be busier before.

I like the site because whether the topic has been discussed or not, you can post and get a pretty quick and pretty consistent set of reliable and intelligent / realistic response.

My 2 cents.
Amex - BCP, Platinum, Business Gold
BoA - BankAmericard Cash Rewards
Chase - Freedom, CSP, RC, Ink Plus
Citi - DC, Prestige
Discover - It

I'm still around. Stuck working graves so pretty much all I have time for is school, sleep and work. I do pop in when I can. This forum has died down a bit since I joined. The only person that I still see a bit is fast. Even member disappeared lol. How are y'all doing? It's been a while.

Oh man, how could we forget the coming and goings of membersince99...I swear that guy was posted more than anyone else on this site throughout the time that I was more active here and made for some...lively discussions. Im also kinda in the same boat with school and work so checking the credit forums has taken a back seat to those things as well as to my other interests.

And I agree with kdm that this site is much higher quality content wise than the other credit forums
