The thing is monoglot comes off like he is just desperate to use the offer whether he has any need to or not. Purposely overspending to use a 0% offer is just moronic. The money still has to be paid back.

Now, if one has a large PLANNED expense and wants to use 0% and knows they'll PIF in time, it makes perfect sense to utilize the offers. But an 18 year old looking to overspend is just going down a bad road IMO. (Plus he already said his QS is at 50% util, so worry about paying that vs creating new debt)

I have run a card up to %50 or even %100 util but I always paid it off before I carried it into the next statement so while I am sure it put a dent in my credit that month, it didn't stick around for long. I would never want to carry that high of a balance with a %0 promo as I wouldn't want a big fat red flag like that hanging around.

I think even if he does make a lot doing accounting or what ever (I doubt it knowing what most of them make even with 4 years in collage/ years of real world experience) that it sounds like a bad road to go down. I am sure many of them also purposely overspend to get a bonus that will cost them in interest down the road, make them default on payments or blow there savings if they had any in the first place leaving them exposed to even the smallest unexpected expense.

I have no doubt that for some people, many of the bonus requirements are steep (4k in 3 months for example can be a stretch for certain people). So they take money out of savings to cover the extra costs they incurred. All for a $400-500 bonus. Which is a nice chunk of money, but now you've drained savings and overspent to get it, so what did you really gain?

The other laughable thing are people like pizza who claim to have filed BK 2 years ago but now have such PERFECT credit skills that they can successfully have 250k in credit at disposable, and zero balance carrying, with 1% utilization. Give me a break. Delusional.

It's sad when CA makes more sense than Laura. They're still both nuts though.

CA is one of the most entitled people I have ever seen. Maybe he has the income/assets to back it up, but jeez, he wants EVERYTHING handed to him. Ron is like a robotic version of CA. I mean at least he doesn't really make ranting entitled posts, but still, they both apply for every card under the sun as if that's normal.

Last night, Credit Magic over on MF said "he was trying really hard to garden" but a "Citi prequal for 12.99% reeled him in". So he applied for Simplicity and got a stupid 1k limit. He immediately called EO to cancel the app. Ostensibly, the HP will still occur, and personally I hope the card does report. Shouldn't always be a "get out of jail free" thing if you didn't get what you wanted.

The funnier thing was simply his attitude towards it. Like a spoiled child. Besides the fact that if one was truly wanting to garden why even be checking for preapprovals? Go do something else with your time. It's not that hard. If you don't need a card, you don't need it. Whining about how "they reeled me in" reeks of zero self control. Nobody held a gun to his head and forced him to apply. Now he's whining about Citi's "unfair lending practices". Well when you app for 20 cards a month, the limits are gonna be low. It's just how it goes.

I like seeing them get what they deserve; another poster who "shouldn't have stepped out of the garden" for the AARP card was granted a whopping $500 limit. At least she was fairly reasonable about it and said she had nobody to blame but herself. But still -- these people have zero concept of "you can't/shouldn't take EVERY SINGLE OFFER that comes along..."

I'm just really in amazement at how out of touch they are with the real world.

Be fair, he did get a "preapproved" mailer that was originally over 20%. I saw that the other day and clicked subscribe immediately. Such an entitled brat.

This is also a good one.

"Ohh you mean that 5/24 rule applies to ME TOO????" It scares me though that the Chase CSR suggested he go to myfico for "help." that is the last place someone with 8 new accounts needs to be.
Chase Freedom $9k~~Chase Sapphire Preferred $6.5k~~Amex Blue Cash Preferred $12.4k~~Citi Double Cash $4.7k

Myfico is the last place anyone needs to be for help. Honestly, a lot of them are slowly destroying their credit, not helping it. You can only explain away so many new accounts.

Creditmagic got what he deserved and I hope it does report. Bottom line is if he truly wanted to garden then there was no reason to even care about prequals. He does this every month though. Says he is done apping and then a week later he apps. No self control. Its sad. Several members are like that. Say they are gardening but get "reeled in" by an offer. They are completely addicted and need help, honestly.

Of course the majority of them are catering to his whining. Hes all "its my decision when I step out of the garden"...like, dude, you were never in the garden to begin with. Apping once a week isnt gardening.

What a trainwreck.

Make sure to grab your popcorn before going to that site. It does make for good entertainment to see fools encouraging fools.
