I don't really see why if you're married why you'd need two more individual cards from NFCU. I mean they already have one joint card.

All they're really doing is making their finances and rewards redemption's more complicated.

http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit- ... -p/4813016

Also, I don't get people who complain about the Citi Double Cash and how you need $25 in rewards to redeem. So you have to spend $1,250.00 to get your $25, so what? But I guess it'll "take a while." Maybe the OP should get a different card because they're obviously on section 8 or something.

I'm not a big Double Cash fan but put into perspective, yes, the complaints can tend to be kind of meaningless. The person in the thread acting like they somehow get more cash back out of a BOA Cash Rewards is pretty puzzling. Unless they are top tier Preferred Rewards and spending a ton on gas/groceries I just don't see how a 1/2/3 card will pay out more than a flat 2% for the vast majority of situations.

I also think it's crazy how many people on MF are going into hysterics about the upcoming Sallie nerf. It's fine to be upset but people are already talking about apping for replacement cards when the nerf doesn't even occur until March 1. You'd think their first born was being taken away!

Love the post lamenting the SM's neutering.

Yeah it sucks, but how long was it really gonna last? I'll hang on to it as long as they keep throwing spend offers at me. I seem to get a 5,000 point bonus for spending $1,000 just about quarterly.

If it dries up i'll just roll mine into my Aviator Red which still has the 10K yearly bonus.

Spending and paying off $1,250 a month isn't difficult in order to get the minimum in rewards. I think the OP in that thread is just an idiot.

I doubt they'd ever qualify for BoA Preferred Client benefits if they're raging about a $25 minimum redemption requirement.

I don't see why people complain about the Citi Double Cash. Citi loses money if someone pays their balance in full every month, so of course they're going to try to make up for it by having a 3% FTF, 4% balance transfer fee, have a higher APR than what's on most other cards, and by not giving a sign up bonus to new customers.

It seems like posters over at MyFico want a no annual fee 2% cash back card with first late fee waived, no foreign transaction fees, with a $500 sign up bonus, 24 month, 0% interest, no fee balance transfer option, and rewards redemption that post immediately (or real time). Like, dream on folks.

You have it wrong.

The card you speak of must have at least 5x/5% cashback on aall category for an unlimited amount of earning year round, redeemable into all FF and hotel programs and generous retention offers as well.

Do the $50 quarterly offers show up automatically by email? Or you usually call and ask? Any suggestions as to what to say or if prep is necessary?

I only get mediocre offers on Arrival for 2% more in certain categories.
Warranties and sketchy merchants: Schwab Platinum
Price rewind: Costco
Travel insurance: Prestige, CSP
Perks: IHG, Hyatt
Rewards/Offers: Discover, Freedom, ED, BCE
Taxes/Misc: SPG

Limited value, might close: Arrival

Might add: First Tech, proper business card

Some people just get lucky I guess. AFAIK, you either get the promo automatically emailed or snail mailed to you, or you call and ask for offers.

Most people seem to only get the "extra 2% on random categories" offers, and then get disproportionately excited about them, lol.

LOL. 600k in credit card limits over 45 total cards and this fool STILL wants to keep applying for "easy to get" credit cards.

Who needs 45 credit cards? I thought I was bad with five credit cards and one charge card.

Reply #1 from Uncle B just encourages more spending. Great leadership right there!

This person is most likely lying about the majority of this post. It seems extremely unlikely that anyone with that much credit (and whatever large portion of it is purportedly new) is getting any real approvals, let alone 15-25K at a time. AND, on top of that nonsense, there is a maxed out card reporting? How does that come about?
Amex - BCP, Platinum, Business Gold
BoA - BankAmericard Cash Rewards
Chase - Freedom, CSP, RC, Ink Plus
Citi - DC, Prestige
Discover - It

Hard to say...could have a high income (or maybe a big spender with a high spousal income). There could be something at 0% used for a major purchase, a few could be business cards, etc.

I wouldn't say there's enough info to call BS.

Typical of MF, leaders/mods are extremely reluctant to tell anyone anything resembling "you don't need more cards", even if that would definitely be the proper advice.

There's a lot of lying on that site, just like many places on the Internet. If as many people on there who claimed they make six figures actually did, they would know how to write with correct grammar, and they would likely not be obsessing over pennies in rewards.
