Have you been posting / reading on MyFICO since the ban was lifted? Or you're staying away more as you had expected?
Amex - BCP, Platinum, Business Gold
BoA - BankAmericard Cash Rewards
Chase - Freedom, CSP, RC, Ink Plus
Citi - DC, Prestige
Discover - It

I certainly don't post like I used to. I used to be active in many threads every day. Now I just post a couple times a day if that. That site is full of people who ask for advice but then ignore the advice (i.e. they apply for a card anyway or whatever), so effort vs gain seems skewed. Most people who want to apply for a card are going to do it whether a forum tells them not to or not, regardless of whether it's a good idea.

I also get tired of seeing the same thing over and over and over. I will be so happy when this Costco Visa thing goes into effect so people can stop making threads about it! Jeez, it's been over a year of nonstop threads. I understand people who have the old Amex are concerned but seriously, just let whatever happens happen and deal with it then. A year+ of speculation is just crazy.

Yea. That's a little much.

When are those changes supposed to take place? Right around now / today no?

Open the TL. Recon the SL. Get the CLI. Realize you don't need full CL. Ask for CLD. Realize you don't need TL. Close TL. Repeat.
Love: IHG, Platinum, Sallie Mae, AA Plat, CSP
Like: Discover, ED, BCE, Hyatt, Arrival, Freedom
Might drop: BrooksBros, Prestige (Costco PC?)
Might add: Proper business card, CSR, Ritz, Delta Gold
Letting new accounts cool off since May
Really not sure what I'll add next or when

Exactly. Its honestly a disturbing obsession with some people. They put more thought into "optimizing" their profile than they do into their real lives and jobs.

After a while it becomes the same old stuff on that forum, even if some of the people have changed. There's some of that here too, I guess, though most posters here are a lot more reasonable. Anyway, I partly think that at some point there is only so much you can write or read about credit cards. I used to love reading the myfico stuff, then I got bored with it after seeing the same old discussions.

I think it can be a useful place, but there is at least as much bad advice as good advice. And some people on myfico may not be able to distinguish the bad advice from the good advice.

Now, I look at myfico maybe once a month, maximum. I used to check it out every day.

I agree, gets tiresome seeing the same discussions (often with the same people; I'm guilty to a degree) over, and over, and over. Nothing seems to change.

But yes, there is definitely only so much to say about credit cards, and a lot of the stuff is really personal choice at the end of the day. Only you can decide if you want to app. Only you can decide if a rewards program is useful to you. etc. Doesn't really matter if person A on a forum thinks starpoints are amazing; if you never use their properties, the points may as well be worth nothing. The Internet is full of resources to learn everything about a rewards program -- earning, redemption, whatever -- so I find the "crystal ball" threads pretty annoying ("will these rewards benefit me? should I app?") as if the person is asking a magic 8 ball for a decision. Just use the information you can easily gather and make a decision!

I also find the nonstop "congrats" in every.single.approval. thread a little over the top and odd.

MYFICO is useful for credit monitoring. I pay the $29.95 a month for the three scores and identity monitoring. The forums are like watching a train wreck most times. You are seeing a lot less in the way of posts from CreditAddict, Ron1 and B&T, but there are others who seem to be taking up the slack for them. I'm to the point now where I post there (and here, really!) about once every couple of weeks. Maybe that will go down over time.
Wallet: Chase Freedom, Discover IT
Chopping Block: Synchrony
Future: TBD

Agree...it seems even the regulars are dwindling down quite a bit. Guess everyone gets tired of it eventually.

They should just have a Crystal Ball section, and let there be one place for all the endless threads about the SM, Freedom Unlimited, et al.
