I think all of the mods need to take a step back and breathe a little. They are so incredibly wrapped up in TOS that they forget the nature of discussions. People are going to disagree during debates. It doesn't mean they should have to stop and just "agree" with one another to keep the thread open. Why? As long as no one is openly attacking anyone, what's the issue? The reason the site rarely has any "interesting" discussions is exactly that: only "congrats!" and things that involve getting along are permitted.

They need to chill out with the TOS a little bit and just let the forum be. Every single disagreement doesn't have to end in a ban, suspension or even warning. There's a reason they have trouble keeping regular posters. Unless you are willing to be extremely fake and ALWAYS positive and encouraging no matter what the situation, you sooner or later get banned. My ban will be lifted soon, and it will be nice to be able to browse, but I have already told myself the only posts I will make will be "informative" i.e. "this was my experience with xyz". I will not engage in any of the arguments or debates. That said, I don't see myself going back to posting nearly as much as I used to anyway.

You saying that Kenny ain't right?

He was the only moderator that truly reached out to me rather than just go straight for the nuclear option. I am sure this is the case for more than just me when some company line was breached.

Kenny at least has displayed some humanity on occasions. On previous times I was banned he at least PM'd me and explained things or offered a human side to it other than just "you aren't FSR" or "you are bombing threads" etc. Like I said, a lot of those mods are so caught up in TOS that they forget about everything else. Sometimes you just have to step back and assess whether the person is really a problem for the forum. MF's definition of "problem" is very vague and very widespread. If you say "don't app for that card right now" you are considered a "problem". If you say "congrats! +1! go for the CLI! go for the card! app away" you will never have an issue.

Not saying all bans are unfair of course, because some people deserve them. But MF is very ban happy. They're too idealistic. They want a perfect forum where nobody disagrees or ever tells anyone "no".

But, it's just the way it is. All one can do is go along with it by posting within their very rigid guidelines or just not post at all.

Just how frequent are the closure fads on MF? The current one is the first I've seen.

Some people will stunt their credit growth (open a new account, take inquiries, and then close the account slowing AAoA growth) for so little gain.

People on MF tend to go through a cycle. They sign up, read about a bunch of cards, and apply for all of them for various benefits. Then they at some point get overwhelmed or realize they're spread too thin, and they close a bunch. Weeks/months later, with some of them, the cycle starts all over. Even some of the usually sensible posters fell into the trap/cycle. I've seen it many times. A lot of them keep accounts for just a few months and then "trim the fat" only to replace them with new accounts a month later.

This is also why you see some posters wax and wane on there. I think a lot of people get over their head with it all and have to get off the site or else the cycle just continues.

Someone got AA from Comenity: http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit-Cards/Sad-to-say-but-Comenity-Shut-Me-Completely-Down/td-p/4422727

Every card closed, to the tune of almost $150k across 20 accounts.

About time, that particular individual had it coming. At least they understand that.
