Update on the 530i

Postby rhipsher » Tue Oct 20, 2015 9:39 pm

After getting rear ended the car was in the shop for 33 days.

While it was in there I told them to go ahead and repaint the front bumper from rock chips and take the head light lenses apart and polish them. $8,000 later.

Brutal, but the car still definitely looks amazing.

I'm a little shocked that was "only" $8k. With that rear quarter panel so messed up I was thinking they would be well over $10k. In NJ they would have just totaled the car for you. :P
Chase Freedom $9k~~Chase Sapphire Preferred $6.5k~~Amex Blue Cash Preferred $12.4k~~Citi Double Cash $4.7k

What are all the little white marks about 3 inches across in the first photo? Are those marks you or the mechanic made, or were those from the accident?

Not sure what the white marks are for. They had to replace the quarted panel. The trunk lid. And the whole bumper. The insurance company valued the car at $32K. Go figure. I already priced brand new 530i and 535 i's and fully loaded like mine with every check box option checked that you could I'm looking at $65k. Mine is paid for. So I'm glad they didn't total it. Looks brand new and they did a 4 point alignment. Drives fantastic.

Looks good! Which shop did the work? I'm happy with the one we have used the last several times but always interested in other options here in Houston.

Richey Collision. I've used them twice also. Once on a Corvette. And now the Bimmer. Lots of Corvettes, Mercedes Porsches there. They also do frame straightening. The front office is full of first place trophies from all of the car shows they've entered. I've never had to bring any of my cars back for warranty work.

Looking good. My neighbor has a 530i and added all the M5 body parts, looks bad ass!
