Who is running Win 10?

Postby rockyrock » Thu Jul 30, 2015 10:47 pm

My desktop is about five years old and runs a AMD Athlon II X2 250 3GHz with 3.0GB of mem. That's about the min to run Win 10. All I do is web browse, run OpenOffice and use Picasa for my pics. It recently crapped the bed so I have a fresh Win 7 install so there isn't anything on here yet to lose...

Anybody upgrade yet on a machine with similar specs?

Id honestly just stick with 7. If you had 8 or 8.1 I would upgrade but I personally am a bigger fan of 7.

Running it, but not on old computers.

I'm running it on my Desktop and on my Surface. Honestly it is better than 7 in every way. Edge is amazingly lightweight in comparison to the RAM hogs Firefox and Chrome. It lacks the add-ons right now, but they will soon be ported over from Chrome. W10 feels more like an XP replacement than Vista, 7, or 8 has ever felt. I'm not sure how it will run on lower end and older computers. I'll be updating the two computers at work as soon as I can. I can't see it being any worse than 7 though.

I love having Cortana on all 3 of my devices. The integration with windows phone has been mind blowing. For example I looked up my wife's incoming JetBlue flight to check the status on my Surface. A little later Cortana on my phone then notified me telling me to leave early because there was traffic and I would be delayed. Then on the way there Cortana notified me that the gate had been changed and the flight would be a little late.

I'm okay with 7 for now, especially since I have a fresh install and everything is running well. I have to admit I'm interested as most feedback I've heard so far is good. Even some of my Mac friends are impressed.

I would upgrade my work laptop but I'm worried about compatibility issues with some of the legacy applications I have to run. Most of them aren't supported anymore. The laptop is brand new but I had to get it with 7 for this reason...

Running it, but certainly not on machines more than a year or so old.

Will probably be a while for me. I have a bit of research to do since I run Win under Boot Camp/Fusion.

I'm running it as well, however my machine is current gen hardware. I wouldn't recommend running win 10 on minimum specs. It may boot up..but it might only do just that.

That was easier than expected. Just a little weirdness getting it activated under both Boot Camp and Fusion but it's done.

Edge uses more RAM than Chrome and Firefox.
