Cool Wallet For Credit Cards

Postby obxfisherman » Mon May 11, 2015 2:32 pm

If you hardly carry around cash, like myself, and use only your credit cards you may want to look into getting this aluminum wallet. This wallet is pretty neat in that it is made of one solid piece of aluminum. The credit cards, or ID cards or whatever securely click into the wallet and they are secure. Now the price tag is pretty steep @ $67.00, but it should last forever. Of course you wouldn't want to sit on this wallet, in your back pocket, but if you carry your wallet in your shirt, or front pants pocket this may be of interest to you. I bought one today, after a price decrease, and so i'll see how it goes. It comes in 4 card, 8 card, or 12 card versions. I went with the 4 card because half the cards I used to carry I never used anyway. Let me know your thoughts.

My wallet is actually bigger than his example of a "too big" traditional wallet. Still, I prefer mine.

I dislike the idea of having to constantly "dig" for a CC or ID. The 6 sections of my bulky wallet give me "first or second row" access to all the cards I'll need 99% of all days.

Two perpendicular rubber bands would be about as functional, albeit not as durable.

Do you keep your wallet in your back pocket? or in another location? Assuming you keep it in the back pocket, does it give you any discomfort or back issues? With my traditional wallet I've never had any pain when keeping it in the back pocket, with the exception of long drives in the car.. otherwise no pain for me.

If I'm wearing a suit or outdoor coat, I keep it in the coat's front inside pocket.
If I'm not wearing one, I keep it in my side pants pocket. If I'm in a very crowded area, I keep my hand in my pocket as I walk.
If I'm exercising, I carry only essential IDs and possibly a house (or car) key, usually in a zippered back pocket. The actual wallet stays at home/a locked gym locker/car.
When I'm driving, I keep it in a little storage slot in the front seat (like a rectangular cup holder - I'm not sure what the proper term is). In any pocket, it would be a distraction when I drove.

I am sure I would have back pains if I kept it in my back pocket - if it would even fit.

Interesting, I was just looking at new wallets this weekend. My wallet is slim to start with, but I hate how it makes a triangular shape when loaded with cards. I was on Massdrop and saw they might have a sale on the carbon Ridge. Its cool but not 100% my style. Then I saw the Obstructures A3. http://obstructures.org/shop/12/a3-aluminum-wallet

I ordered one in Orange. It should be here by Friday. The main thing I like about it is how you can customize it a bit. It will be as slim as you want and still give quick access to cash or a card you use every day. Plussss, bottle opener.

I like both choices but if I had to choose one I would have to go with the second one. As it does offer rain protection for the cards and any paper you might be carrying.

Edit: On second thought that Flipside wallet has my attention.

If you follow Obstructures on Facebook you'll get a notification when they have factory seconds. They're about half price, but you have limited choices of color.

I've had my A3 in orange for just about a month now. It easily holds 6 cards, plus some business cards and a little cash. I like that I can pull cards out and the wallet slims down. It works best if you have one or two cards that you like to use all the time. It can be a bit of a PITA to get cards into certain spaces. But worst case you just slip it under the bands on the outside and deal with it later.

I'll probably pick up an Elephant Wallet, or maybe make my own. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f3II14VCsNI

I'm developing a Wallet addiction :)
