Hawaii Trip- Hawaiian Airlines Vs Marriott

Postby nismoZtuner » Mon Feb 23, 2015 3:38 pm

So my friend and I have been planing a trip to Hawaii- Oahu due to recommendations. I have been looking around to get the best deal possible on Hotel+Flight together.

Since I am a Marriott Rewards Premier member I want to stay with Marriott but it turns out that its more expensive if I book my stay+flight directly with Marriott compared to Hawaiian airlines.

--------------------
Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa [8 nights]
(Price with Hotel+flight together)
1. Booked w/ Marriott- Regular City View Room $3,333.82 USD
2. Booked w/ Marriott- Partial Ocean View Room $3,581.31 USD
3. Booked w/ Hawaiian Airlines- Partial Ocean View Room $3,027.36 USD

**Notice option 2 and 3 have the same rooms**

I also see that Marriott claims to have the beast deal possible- what do you guys think?

I am assuming you shall not be earning any Marriott rewards for booking through Hawaiian? The AMEX PRG card will get you 3X MR points for booking through Hawaiian.

You have to figure out the points value of Marriott rewards. Just to see if you are coming out ahead.
Amex PRG, Amex EveryDay, Amex BCE, Barclaycard Arrival, Cap One Venture One, CSP, Chase Freedom, Discover it, Macy's Star Card, Wells Fargo Propel 365 Amex, Wells Fargo Visa Sig

Maybe, I notice that every time i check in at Marriott they ask for a credit card (i will give them my Marriott card). Saving $500 is better than getting 11k points.. what i`m curious is will they match prices if i call them..

I would call them to see if they will match the price, Marriott advertises that booking through them is the best rate. Not sure if that applies to packages, like the one your looking at. Also, what would the cost be if you bought them separate?
American Express Platinum Card
American Express TrueEarnings Card from Costco
Marriott Rewards Premier Visa Signature Card
Chase Sapphire Preferred World MasterCard
Discover It

Hotel alone:
City view- $2,270.12
Partial ocean view- $2,543.63

Flight:
2 Travelers- $1,314.00

$3857.63 (getting stuff separate) vs $3,027.36 (Hawaiian airlines package)---- $830 difference!

So did you end up calling Marriott? They probably won't price match because on their website for Best Rate Guarantee it specifically states they will only price match and give you an extra 25% discount on ONLY the room and no package deals such as travel...
