Postby MB131174 » Tue Jan 27, 2015 6:56 pm

trolls. spam. will i be approved for... best card to use for lollipops?... why didn't i get a credit limit increase?... has anyone heard of the... this site isn't what it used to be. i feel like everyone is nitpicking over how to get one extra cent worth of rewards or trying to figure out the next best thing, which may or may not happen. i'm thinking of just pulling a member and not worry about this any more. just my thoughts.

I don't necessarily think the quality of the forum has gotten worse. In many ways it has gotten better.

But that said -- at some point there probably is only so much you can say or read about credit cards. I be learned a lot from this site but yes I start to see similar issues repeated over and over again. I don't think the forums have gotten worse, I think I've just learned most of what I will learn from them.

That's just my take but I've experienced similar feelings with lots of forums on different topics. Sometimes you just outgrow them.

Haven't been a member as long as a lot of people, but I can tell that the forum is somewhat the same old post also, however I guess if my credit was bad, my scores were in the toilet, this forum would be very useful to me as a place to come and learn. But from time to time about once a month I find out something that I didn't know anything about i.e (vantage scores and certain things about different credit cards).

I still like posting on this forum and all but lately I've become busier now that the semester is in full swing. I have unfortunately noticed a lot more spam here unfortunately and that's really got to stop. I also haven't been here nearly as long as a lot of you have so I don't know if I feel burned out posting here or not yet.

For now, I've completely stopped posting over at Credit Boards though. The site does have useful information though but the spam, popularity contests, and people trying to boost their post counts by trolling threads over there is a lot worse than this place and I've gotten the impression that it's a lot like what you're talking about and it's not really my kind of environment at all.

Doesn't seem much different to me other than no rants from Member. While some are better than others, every forum has noise. Threads are generally clearly marked so you don't have to read topics that don't interest you. In the end it's your call though.

What was it like?

This is a credit card forum so for most part, you're not going to have much movement as there are no new credit cards coming out on a steady stream (lately) that keeps this place hopping so to speak

There was the citi double cash and the Amex everyday and what else really? Wells Fargo converted to using Amex as their processor but you don't really hear much about that (has the award pts or benefits gotten any better?)

If you want content, create it

Like others have said this is a credit card forum so naturally its not going to be as happening as other forums. This place seems to have its waves between a lot of posts to where there isnt much at all.

I can vouch that there's a wealth of information here that has personally helped me go from knowing absolutely NOTHING about credit to improving my score dramatically. Using the search for previous topics is particularly useful. I'm even now to the point where I'm beginning to help my mother repair her credit after my father passed. I can't vouch for how active the site once was or even currently is, but if this site isn't what it used to be, I certainly like what it has become... a HUGE reference for building your credit with intelligent, educated people willing to help within their capabilities.
