An example of government employees with not enough work to do

Postby MemberSince99 » Tue Sep 23, 2014 8:46 pm

As I've mentioned I just bought a house and moved in prior to this past weekend. Here in Milwaukee they have recycling in addition to garbage pickup.

Monday morning, 9 days after I moved in here, I saw the recycling guy. He parked his truck blocking my exit so I had to wait for him to leave. I saw he went to his truck and wrote out an orange tag, and then put it on one of the containers and then left.

When I got home I saw it was my container so I read it and it said
"USE YOUR RECYCLING CONTAINER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" (yes it had a boatload of exclamation points).

I thought there goes a guy with a low double digit IQ overthinking things again, trying to do a job he's just not cut out to do (think), and jumping to assumptions. I just moved in here, so there isn't much to recycle most of it is currently trash though I did put what I had to recycle into the bin. I felt like writing back "TRY TO USE YOUR HEAD IF IT WON'T HURT IT TOO MUCH - I JUST MOVED IN HERE AND DON"T HAVE MUCH YET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IF IT MAKES YOUR LAZY UNION ASS HAPPY, I'LL TAKE SOME OUT OF THE NEIGHBOR'S BIN FOR NEXT TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

But I figure being city the bastard will pay me back for that somehow.

I don't know about you, but even at minimum wage I think some people are way overpaid.

Mix some 1s into those exclamation marks; you don't want to intimidate him intellectually. Maybe throw an apostrophe in that your.

If you'll indulge me, I'll share an experience so you don't think all the incompetence is targeted at you...

I recently had to complain to the USPS because our mail carrier consistently does not pick up outgoing mail we leave in our box. It started out slow and understandable but snowballed into a rage-inducing fury in me. We got mail that must have belonged to the people that lived here before us, I write "not at this address," and put it back. It sits there, and I figure no big deal - I guess he just doesn't know what to do with it. I let it sit there another week or so and whenever we get mail, it just gets piled on top. I get a credit card solicitation or two and add it to the pile (I'm in the habit of returning any junk mail to the sender when they include a postage-paid return envelope). Again, who cares if he doesn't pick it up? It couldn't be less important. Finally the time comes where I pay a bill via mail. It, too, is added to the pile and when I return home from work I have incoming mail in the box on top of all the outgoing mail that has been building. That time I got pissed off because it was something important. It was clearly going out to someone else and the return label even had our address on it. How lazy and/or stupid do you have to be?

Yep, some people are simply lazy and overpaid and pretty stupid and useless. They generally tend to get government positions so they can be that way and still enjoy a lifetime of job security and a great pension funded by the taxpayers they "serve".

I would just throw that mail out. If the previous guy didn't forward it, he obviously doesn't care (I don't plan to have mine forwarded from the apartment I live at - I was going to but then when the USPS started asking for a credit card I said to hell with it....).

As far as outgoing mail I would NEVER leave it in the box. For one thing you are asking them to do work and use their head in asking them to take that, which work is something they don't want to do and thinking is something they CAN'T do. Besides that it's wide open to theft that way as well. I'd just drop it in a drop box and be done with it.

I just added to the bin and you know what? After leaving the nasty note, the fricken guy didn't even take what I had in the bin - it's still sitting there.

I think at a buck an hour, he'd be vastly overpaid.....a little less trying to think and a little more doing your job please, even though the union will NEVER let them fire you....I'm starting to see why so many people hate unions. I'm not nuts about the corporations they are another sort of evil, but man, unions, I can sure understand the widespread loathing of them watching their "workers" in action.
