Samsung Galaxy Note 4/Edge v. iPhone 6/6 plus

Postby nismoZtuner » Thu Sep 11, 2014 1:21 pm

My current contract with Tmobile was up this July so now I`m free!

Now I`m looking for a better provider since Tmobile is terrible in my area and got many dead zones. I`m actually thinking about going with Verizon.

So now phones- I have been more of an Android user since my first smartphone but had-had friend want me to get into the apple thing.. but I`m liking the new note edge the most (just look at that curved screen hahah...)if i was to get the iphone which i doubt it`ll have to be the plus since small phones are just no good for me-what do you guys think?

Be prepared to get absolutely no update support on that Note Edge. That is simply a trial and error/gimmick device.

I will agree it looks intriguing, but I can't stand spending hundreds of dollars on top end devices and getting no future software support. That Edge is completely unique to Samsung, so it will be the sole responsibility of Samsung to actually spend the time and money to support it with each and every Android update.

If you have disposable income and are willing to lose your a$$ for $300+ on contract or 3x that out of contract, have a blast.

I began my smartphone career with android. I hacked the heck out of it. Then, I realized that I was wasting a lot of time messing around with my kernels and radios. I decided that iOS offered a better out of the box solution and was more compatible with the rest of my tech ecosystem. I haven't seen any reason to go back.

If I had my way, I'd have a phone with the tech of an iPhone 6 in the body of a 5. The Note Edge is a bit too gimmicky for me and the 6 Plus is huge. I don't need 5+ inches of real estate in my pocket. That's what the iPad is for.

Personally, I am not a fan of the iPhone. I have just about everything else from Apple - MacBook, iPad, and iPod touch - but the iPhone just doesn't give me anything I can't get in an Android for WAY cheaper. Part of it is just a hipster-esque reaction to all the hype around each new version that comes out every six months, but I truly just don't see what is better about them.

Unlike djrez4, I am glad to see Apple is finally offering a phone with a bigger screen, though. That size is fine for my iPod, but I just need more in my phone.

I am still using my Galaxy S3, and it suits my needs pretty well. I got it because it had the biggest screen available at the time. I use many features of the phone, but only in a simple way - e.g. taking photos and videos with it, but not trying to edit them on the device.

Lately, I have been thinking it would be nice to have the sort of ecosystem you get with Apple. Getting my phone to sync with the latest music files on my Windows desktop computer is definitely a pain. It is a little annoying to go for a jog and then realize music I had wanted to listen to didn't make it on there.

It's kind of ironic - I'm in the last months of my contract with Verizon looking to go with T-Mobile. My Verizon contract ends in early November so not long to go now and I can tell you this - I will NEVER EVER sign another contract I'm buy my own damn phone thank you very much. Getting locked into ANY carrier is a very bad idea in my opinion.

Anyway that aside, I've had the IPhone for years, and it no longer does it for me. The screen is smaller than I'd prefer, the battery life is atrocious, and I would like to see what Android can offer me as I've only known the IPhone. I think a Droid Maxx would be about perfect. Anyway that's just me. I like what I see of your picture of the Note. Is battery life any good on it?

Note 4 and Note Edge should have the same battery: 3,220mAh

The older iPhones max out at roughly 1,500mAh, but the size on the new ones has not been announced officially. Only speculation and rumors at the moment.

Either way, Samsung flagships are known to blow the iPhone out of the water when comparing battery life.

Have you heard about "Google Music"?.... its an app on the Play Store which lets you sync your music into any device you have your email registered with.

first install it on your PC> Have a file to sync with the app( every time you add music to that file it`ll sync to the app, then the app uploads it to any deceive you have and it`ll play with google music your phone)

Give it a try.

I currently have the Note 2 which i bought from friend since my galaxy s3 gave out on me days before going to Puerto Rico- One day it just shut off by it self while i was using it and when i tried to turn it back on it`ll boot but it would not go past the "Samsung Galaxy SIII" screen. The battery on the note 2 really last me an entire day with medium to heavy use so yeah it gets me trough the day. The N2 drops from 100% to about 15-20% by the end of the day and then i`ll charge it over night..
