So I get home last night after the manager let me know it was fixed and sure enough, they managed to fix the lock, all without replacing the door or handle (so you know it had to be a pretty cheap fix whatever they did).

Now was that REALLY so hard and terribly expensive? Why the hell didn't you just do that to start with instead of trying to cobble it and tell me to live with that? Makes you wonder if a window had a baseball come through, they'd just tell me to tape plastic over the hole. How cheap can you get?

Eh, I have to disagree. Hiring a good maintenance guy (or two, or three) is the kind of detail a good landlord pays attention to. We've had amazing service at our current place, and I have to say, I am not looking forward to moving to Boston in the fall and paying more than twice what we do now for a smaller place with no guarantee of service anywhere near as good.
