Thumbs down what's the point of a tire store credit card!

i bought tires this week and it was at one of those big chains. don't remember the name but they have a green and yellow color scheme. i think it was discount tire or tire rack or some other unmemorable name. anyway they try and get you to open a credit card like most stores but who would need one for a place that sells nothing but tires? you only replace tires every few years. i don't get what the point would be to open a card at a place like that. if you absolutely had to open a store credit card to buy just tires it seems you'd do way better off at a place like sears because the card could be used for other things.

They want you to use THEIR credit card, so they don't have to pay the charge processing fees that the banks/Visa/MC impose.

They do it so they can be the ones to make the money off your interest.

Yeah just another way for these stores to make a buck. But they're probably just hurting the consumer with these cards. They'd be better off opening any normal credit card than a store card to finance their purchase.

I don't get it. Why do a ding on your credit record just to open up a card that you are only going to use for one purchase ever probably. I mean you can only need so many pairs of tires! Never did understood why people with good credit would still open up these things.
