    Exclamation Macy's debit card mishap

If you made a purchase at any of the nearly 500 Macy's stores on December 20th using your debit card, you may have been charged twice. This could be a problem for many if having that amount charged twice would be enough to overdraw the checking account the debit card is linked to. The worst part it says to fix the mistakes consumers had to fax over bank statements and it would take up to ten days to fix.

I don't see any mention of compensating the customers for this. Macy's should give them a $100 gift card at the very minimum plus refund any overdraft fees the banks charged them. Only debit cards were affected. Another reason to play it safe and NOT use debit cards!

Don't forget about the unrepairable damage done to your record at the bank of having a black mark for an overdraw.

Macys has turned into a Kmart or Sears. Everytime I walk in there its a yardsale with piles of clothes you have to dig through.

There is also the ongoing problem of gas stations placing amounts of $50 to $75 on hold on your debit account no matter what the amount of your gas purchase may be.

Overall there needs to be major debit card reform to prevent these things in order for them to be safe to use.
