Smile No longer being solicited for store charge cards

Have you noticed how stores are not trying to hound you to open up their credit cards as much since this credit crunch came about? I actually enjoy not being solicited to open up a garbage store card that serves virtually no purpose or gives any benefits. Even the best department store credit cards give little to no rewards on all other purchases outside of the store.

That is one of the positives from this mess. Consumers will no longer be making that impulse decision at the cash register to open a store card that only hurts them.

What we are experiencing is available credit coming back down to a reasonable level from the stratospheric level is was previously at. All in all the end result of this credit crisis will be a good thing; less available credit. The painful part we are feeling is such a quick transition. As if we were addicted to a drug, we needed to be weened of this drug called debt the same way. The quick cut off is what is making this so very difficult.

I've noticed the same thing too. I used to get asked like every single time I went to Target and now I never get asked at all... either they aren't giving them out or don't like me anymore

It's because they don't like you anymore, the same as I not liking you anymore.

    Just kidding.

Target: They don't wanna leave me alone when I checkout

Rooms To Go: Didn't even wanted to buy anything and they still try to talk me into a card.

Best Buy: Can never leave the store without being asked.

Well at the end I think they still try to offer it to you however it just depends on the products you are looking at (prices).

That's surprising they're still offering credit cards like that to you Floppster! I wasn't even offered a card at Marshall's today while I was buying a coat, even though the customer at the register next to me was while I was paying (and funny enough, he said he previously applied and was denied.)

Oh well I suppose the stores just don't like me.
