    Default Home Depot credit card

I'm not big on store credit cards but I am in the construction business. Any of you folks know if the Home Depot credit card gives any discounts other than the promo for the first time you use the card? If it gave any on going discounts at least once in a while it may be worth taking a look. But if it doesn't do anything that a normal credit card does there's no point in using it.

My company is starting to put all of our supplies on credit so anything I can use to give it a boost I'd like to hear about.

I don't have a Home Depot or Lowes credit card but from what I know they don't give you any kind of special deals just for having the card other than the deferred interest promotions. I think they offer it solely as another way to finance your purchases and that's it. It's not like with department store credit cards where some will at least give you some special rewards and what not.

I don't even think it's worth signing up to get the one time discount if they still offer it. You know if you go down to your Post Office and request a movers kit they usually have a coupon from Home Depot and Lowes for 10% off your entire purchase. Just use that instead of hurting your credit with one of these cards.

If you buy a lot of credit maybe get a credit card that offer higher cash back on normal purchases. Like 1.5% or 2%. That way at least you'd be getting some sort of savings.
Disclosure: I am a moderator/paid staff of this site, which does have advertising relationships with some credit cards that are discussed. Regardless, anything I say is my honest opinion.

    Current Cards:
American Express: Blue Cash, Simply Cash Bank of America: WorldPoints Platinum Plus Chase: Amazon, British Airways, Cash Plus Rewards, Freedom, Ink Cash Citi: Thank You Premier, Dividend Platinum Select Discover: More
Primary Everyday Card: American Express Blue Cash
Primary Travel Card: Citi Thank You Premier

My friend got a Home Depot card. He said they sent him a bill saying he made a late payment and jacked his interest rates up big time.

The guy said he always paid on time and never missed a payment. This dirty trick is not uncommon in the credit industry. Then it's your word against theirs. Good luck winning this battle.

    Peace,

    Herman

Don't forget Home Depot credit cards are processed by/through the biggest crooks - Citibank.
