Savings every time you shop with macy's card?

Where you can talk about store credit cards, like gas station cards, department store cards, etc.

Savings every time you shop with macy's card?

Postby swipe_masta » Tue Jun 25, 2013 5:37 pm

So apparently when you use your Macy's card you save a few bucks every time you shop along with the generic 15% off first purch, which I did not know. When you scan an item's barcode at the price scanner, it shows you the price (in black) then the Macy's card price (in red) and at the bottom it says how much the item would be if you were to sign up for a Macy's card and get the 15% off after approval...

My ex-girlfriend had mastered the Macy's card. We would save a ton using it whenever they were running specials and they always sent her coupons too. I don't have any store cards but I can say if you like to shop at Macy's and use the card correctly you can do real well.

Yeah I know! They had their annual biggest day sale event and bought diamond earrings for my gf that were originally $1000 got 50% off then an additional 25% off AND THEN another 20% off for getting approved for the card!

The only downside to getting approved for the Amex card is that it is two accts in one. I get one statement for only Macy's purchases and another separate statement for my Amex purchases. Also, there are two credit limits! I have $2000 limit for Macy's line of credit and $8000 for Amex line?! This makes things so much more complicated, I don't know why they do it this way... I only plan to use the card at Macy's so I guess it will be less hassle.

Wow, I didn't even know they had a Macy's Amex.

That is a unique setup with two limits. I guess that's to keep you from scoring too many rewards? When you use it outside Macy's you can spend $8k but in the store they cut you off at $2k?

Yeah Amex replaced the Visa for Macy's.

From what I was told by the csr is that it is essentially two accts in one, which I don't like. Hypothetically speaking, if I spent $2k at Macy's (which I would never do) and I wanted to buy more, I wouldn't be able to use my Amex's portion of my credit limit! How messed up is that?! This also means that my limit/debt ratio would be off too... Blek it's really stupid...

You don't save money each time you use a Macy's card. You can accrue Star Rewards points that can be redeemed several times a year for discount on Macys.com or in the stores. The only time you save money every time is when you are an employee.

Yo read my first post carefully. I kid you not. Next time you go to Macy's, scan an item and tell me I'm wrong.
