Should I keep my Sears?

Where you can talk about store credit cards, like gas station cards, department store cards, etc.

Should I keep my Sears?

Postby Vandalized2 » Mon Apr 15, 2013 12:06 am

Is the Sears Credit Card that you apply for in store a good card to help build and maintain credit? I have had mine since 11/11 and it has a limit of 3000.

Until a few months ago this was my highest limit card and I spend about $150 a month on it and pay it off?

What should I do next? Keep it? Apply for something different? ADVISE AND OPINIONS ARE WELCOME!!!!!

Well it depends on a lot of things...
Where does it fit in on your AAoA?
Is it just the store card or visa/mc?
If you send $150ish/month, you obvious shop at sears a lot, so why not keep it? If you want something else, apply for it. You don't HAVE to close an account to open another. If it is one of your oldest and largest limit cards, I suggest you keep it. It doesn't hurt (unless it has an annual fee).

Well I do not spend money at Sears with the credit card. I have only shopped there twice in 2 years since having the card. And I only signed up for the credit card because I got 25%off my tools and a free bag.
The only reason I spend on the card is because until recently i only had 2 cards. Its a Sears MC , and i will not be using it except once a month to purchase something small and pay it off.

I just do not know what I should apply for next?

What are you looking for? I see you have a cashback card. Why not look for a nice rewards card?

Well just got approved for an addition $1000 on my credit limit in a five minute phone call. Sears has been really good to me always reducing my APR and approving higher credit limits! It was one last good hurrah! Well, before I sock drawer it except for once every two or three months. Thank you Sears

Be good to Sears and Sears will be good to you. Unless they go bankrupt, of course, which is increasingly likely.
