Something randomly weird but cool happened with my Old Navy card

Something randomly weird but cool happened with my Old Navy card

Postby Ratfacedudeguy » Wed Nov 14, 2012 7:54 pm

I've had a crappy Old Navy account with a $400 limit for the past few years. It rarely sees any activity, mainly because I rarely buy myself clothes. I logged into my account today and noticed that I was offered to "upgrade" my card to an Old Navy Visa. I figured, why not. At least it will convert a store card to a major card, plus they were offering a $30 reward certificate on the first non-Gap-network purchase. I updated my income, and lo and behold, instant approval of the conversion. I then looked in the bottom corner of the screen and noticed in somewhat small, grey letters... Credit limit approved at... $2500! Wow, I must say I'm impressed. It's not too often that you get an instant approval to increase your credit limit 6.25x the old limit. I don't know yet if it resulted in a hard pull, but hey I'll take it!

This is pretty cool and probably a smart move on Old Navy's part; I'd imagine that card is a whole heck of a lot more likely to get used now.

Did you know when you "upgrade" a store card to a visa, it is a whole new acct? Totally separate acct with totally separate acct numbers! All cards thru GECRB do this! It's kinda shady when they say "upgrade", because they're basically saying, "Even though you have a card with our store, open another one with us at your expense!" With this said tho, ONV is a pretty nice card to have. I have one myself. You can shop at all the Gap Inc. brands and get the 5pt/$1. IMO they send you more special promos than any other store brand visa cards. I got a promo last Aug where for every $100 dollars spent outside the brand I would get $10 rewards. Haven't seen any specials come lately tho...
