Don't get overly obsessed with your credit score, other things on your report are taken into consideration as well. The only way to get credit is to apply for it and future lenders expect to see a few inquiries. What looks bad is when someone applies for 12 cards at one time and gets denied for all of them, but 1 denial won't be the end of the world. If you have 3 hard pulls and 3 new lines of credit to go with them, it doesn't look so bad. There is nothing wrong with Citi, you are doing great to have a Citi card at your age, just keep in mind we all started out with low limits and worked our way up, you have lots of years in front of you, just use the cards wisely. Don't get me wrong, go ahead and apply for the Best Buy card if that's what you want. If approved, give it a few months then apply for another major card, you might consider Discover or BofA. Here's why, future lenders like to see that you are able to manage more than one line of credit at the same time. As you get more credit from other lenders you also increase your chances of getting an increase from Citi. Just don't give up on getting that increase from Citi, it's a good card.
