Does Kohl's card report credit history to the bureaus?

Where you can talk about store credit cards, like gas station cards, department store cards, etc.

Yes. Kohl's reports to all three bureaus as KOHLS/CAP1. It can take up to two billing cycles for a new account to appear on the bureau.

They should report. They may not be categorized as a credit card, more of a charge card. But they definitely are not a debit card. So they should definitely be reporting.

Kohls will report missed payment in an instant

Postby Veritas » Tue Jul 17, 2012 10:47 am

You can be sure that Kohls reports to the credit bureaus. I forgot about a $15 payment in April; by June the ding showed up on my otherwise flawlwss credit history. I found out when I applied for a small call loan.

I am not a major user of credit cards. My bank visa cards and corporate Amex have zero balances and the only card I use is paid automatically each month. My wife applied for this card without asking me because she liked the disconts offered by Kohls. I forced myself to use it but the final bill was a grand total of only $15. The hardly memorable purchase was forgotten about very quickly, especially since I am not in the habit of paying off cards the hard way.

Kohls processes are flawed. Their email statements go straight into Spam. It turns out that they did try to call me, but they use a mysterious caler ID and a robot - the kind of thing you tell your kids not to answer. When they write to you, it is too late.

On YouTube, Kohls claims a cozy relationship with the credit reporting agencies. You would think that if this were true they would check the credit status of late payers before damaging their credit history.

Kohls appears to have outsourced its customer relationships to Capital One, whose trigger happy responses are costing the store its reputation, not to mention revenues well in excess of the $15 in contention in my case history. Just look around the credit card review sites to see how many other people have been caught out like this.

Anyone looking to maintain a good credit record should avoid Kohls like the plague. One slight mistake and they will trash your reputation in an instant.

It's been around 5 months since I got my Kohls card, and I still can not see it in my Experian report.

I just checked Credit Karma and Kohl's finally reported.

BTW, I the most I ever had on my card was $50 for a gift card, it's already paid off. I carry no balance on this card so I'm not worried about them. I have 100% on time payments!
