If you made a purchase at any of the nearly 500 Macy's stores on December 20th using your debit card, you may have been charged twice. This could be a problem for many if having that amount charged twice would be enough to overdraw the checking account the debit card is linked to. The worst part it says to fix the mistakes consumers had to fax over bank statements and it would take up to ten days to fix.Macy's owns up to debit card glitch on Saturday before Christmas | News for Dallas, Texas | Dallas Morning News | Dallas Business News
I don't see any mention of compensating the customers for this. Macy's should give them a $100 gift card at the very minimum plus refund any overdraft fees the banks charged them. Only debit cards were affected. Another reason to play it safe and NOT use debit cards!
