Express Store Credit Card?

Postby computerchris » Mon Jun 28, 2010 7:23 pm

Anyone have an Express store credit card? I'm looking to apply for one but before I do that, I was just wondering what was everybody's experience dealing with them.

Well, I shop there quite frequently. The coupons and points I would receive with the card wouldn't hurt.

Yes it might impact your credit score, as all store credit cards do when you apply and have a hard pull. The time value of money the otherwise better decisions and points you could be earning rather than store credit is a factor as well. oh and a 25% interest rate. but im sure you pay it off every month. Why don't you get a bank credit card with a good rate and rewards program and not be blinded by 15% off your first purchase. Stay with the bank and its credit card and enjoy.

Yeah it's not worth sacrificing your credit score to save a few bucks. If you want higher rewards on clothes then go with the Discover More or Chase Freedom.
Disclosure: I am a moderator/paid staff of this site, which does have advertising relationships with some credit cards that are discussed and linked to. Regardless, anything I say is my honest opinion.

Current Cards:
American Express: Blue Cash, Simply Cash Bank of America: WorldPoints Platinum Plus Chase: Amazon, British Airways, Cash Plus Rewards, Freedom, Ink Cash Citi: Thank You Premier, Dividend Platinum Select Discover: More
Primary Everyday Card: American Express Blue Cash

Why do you say that store cards hurt your credit scores? Can you elaborate?

To the Original Poster: If you plan to finance your purchases with the card, you'll be better off using a lower APR CC for that and sign up for the Express emails on their website and you will receive coupons and offers in the mail and email. Better yet, use the coupons and pay cash.
