I have been a loyal cardholder of Target since 2005... Never missed a payment or had a returned payment in 10 years. In my rush to go on vacation for the 4th of July, I errantly made an extra payment from a closed bank account which caused a returned payment of $25. When I called asking if they could reverse the fee based on my clean payment history, I was told ABSOLUTELY NOT. Very disappointed. Has anyone else had a problem getting a fee reversed from Target Card Services?
The relationship between Target and myself at this point is irreparable... the $25 is a moot point, it was the principle behind it. The credit card will be paid off but the damage to Target's reputation will hurt far worse than it will to me. They will lose out on all the monthly interest I have been paying ($202.03 in just the last 12 months) which by my calculations far exceeds the fee I requested to be waived and I will NEVER shop at Target again. I hope the $25 is worth it to Target, they lost a loyal customer and cardholder forever as a result.
Please share this... maybe these big companies will realize that treating customers this way, especially when it was an honest mistake, can have a negative effect on what they value most... their bottom line (because it sure isn't their customers).
