Got the Lowe's card

Postby MemberSince99 » Sun Aug 10, 2014 12:58 pm

Applied online figured with buying a home I might want that card. Got approved with a 5k limit, so I called and up'd it to 10k. Probably could have gotten more but even 10 is more than I'll ever need honestly.

Congrats. Are they that easy to negotiate with or are you just great with reconsideration analysts?

Thank you. I'd read that they were pretty easy to recon the initial limit with. So I decided to see for myself, and I would have to agree that's true.

Awesome, glad to see they didn't pull a Discover on you. Luckily all the lenders I have cards with have treated me well, no horror stories yet.

I've never really paid attention to the Lowe's card, do they offer finance deals? I thought about getting one several months ago but decided it was just better to buy Lowe's GCs from the market with my BCP... Now my BCP (6%) is maxed out so I'm kind of regretting that strategy.

They offer either 5% off, or 6 months to pay with no interest, if the amount is high enough. The catch is if you don't pay in the 6 months they give you, you get hit with full interest from day one so it's expensive to do that. And the APR is like 24.99% so it's going to sting. They do offer a different card for large amount long term financing. That might be the one you want if you are considering that.

I LOVE my Lowes card. I've been fortunate enough that every project I've taken the 6 or 12 months option, I've had paid off well in advance to possible interest smack down. It's 0 balance now, I'm working to get my other CLs down before I take on my next Lowes project, which will easily be the most expensive (complete re-flooring of my home).

I had my hopes up too. :(

If Member miraculously came back, I'd tell him that his Lowes approval and CLI without having to do much spending on it are standard for that card and that he could have asked for $25k and potentially got it.

I'm still annoyed with myself that I closed out my $17k one but Citi had done AA against me and I was afraid at the time other lenders were gonna take action so I had to play it safe there.
