Are Walgreens and CVS definitely considered drug stores by the Freedom? I might go there and get 3 $500 gift cards to get the maximum bonus for the quarter.
Also, how do you guys keep track of how much is left on each? And what happens if you have say $10 left and the thing you want to buy is $20? Just ask them to run that for the remaining amount and then put the rest on another card?

I can only attest to CVS being counted by the freedom, I've never used it at walgreens. I loaded my two $500 vanilla reloads on a bluebird card and have been using it for bill pay to places that don't typically accept credit cards (rent for example). It has text banking so I can do a quick balance check as well as online and mobile apps. Doesn't integrate into mint which is my only gripe.
Oh and to answer your remaining balance question, most POS systems will allow a cashier to run multiple cards. So you should be alright to tell the cashier to run your last $x.xx and use another form of payment for the rest.
