I received an email from citi forward stating that I could get 5x points on groceries, gas, and drug stores through the end of March. I love this card.

I got that email too. Nice promotion but I won't partake as I can still make out better with 5% actual cash in those categories. My Forward is strictly for the Amazon and entertainment purchases where I can't do better. I wish companies would think out of the box a little and offer some different categories like bill pay or all online shopping for these kind of promos, or even come up with something new. Maybe insurance purchases, or college tuition, or car repair, or legal expenses, or discount stores, or something at least as a 5% category. The usual gas, groceries, drugstores, airfare as the major bonus categories are very useful and universal, but getting old for a lot of us who are rewards maniacs and already earning that. Just wish they'd show a little creativity instead of just trying to copy each others ideas.

Either we got a different promotion then or it's different for your Simplicity and my Forward card. The email I got said 5 Thank You Points per dollar for gas, groceries, drug stores, and commuter spending. I won't be participating (lol) in this promo cause I can an actual 5% on cash for gas through PenFed, drug stores through Freedom or Dividend, 6% on groceries through BCP, and I don't spend on "commuter spending" because I drive everywhere. The closest thing to commuter spending to me is the occasional toll (if EZ pass even counts), and miraculously in New Jersey don't have a toll booth between my job and my home.
5% cash back on everything I would definitely use if that was what they had sent me.

I got the same email promo as hematino. Says this:
Get a head start on making this a more rewarding year with your Citi Forward® Card. Earn 5 ThankYou Points per $1 spent on things you buy every day at grocery stores, gas stations and drugstores — even commuter transportation expenses. Earn up to 2,500 additional points, through 03/31/13! Start redeeming at thankyou.com for great rewards like music downloads with as little as 100 points.
Fine print says this:
Earnings associated with this program will equal 4 bonus ThankYou Points per $1 spent on purchases and may overlap with other special offers in which you are currently enrolled. Bonus points awarded with this offer are subject to a cap of 2,500 additional points.
If it would have been a statement credit, I would have been all over this promo (expanded my spending from just Amazon and restaurants. I'm pretty frusterated with the ThankYou points. Interesting we got different promos. I've only had the Forward card since September but have used it quite a bit. I think I'll still enroll though.. why not, huh?
