Default Recent curtailments in rewards, cashback and cards that offer these

The latest comments in the lengthy US Bank Cash+ thread reminded me of other un-enhancements to reward cards and programs I've been reading about here lately.

There's an Amex thread about some cutbacks in Platinum. I know from my own experience that the card referral bonus program, at least for BCP, has been suspended. And, of course, there's the infamous cap on BCP rewards that just came out.

USB Cash+ appears as if it is being phased out, or perhaps is only going to be offered to brick and mortar banking customers (see the thread).

Discover, on the other hand, seems to be improving the cashback program for the IT card.

What other recent changes to rewards programs have any of you noticed? Does anyone see the makings of a trend here?
American Express: Blue Cash Preferred (groceries, 6%; gas, department store, 3%); Gold Delta SkyMiles (Delta Air Lines, 2 miles/dollar, free checked bag).
US Bank: Cash+ (utilities, phone, internet, restaurant, 5%; drugstores, 2%).
FIA Card Services: Fidelity Amex (everything, 2%); Fidelity Visa (everything, 1.5%).
Chase: Freedom (rotating, 5%); Amazon (Amazon.com, 3%); PriorityClub (IHG hotels, 5 points/dollar); Sapphire (not in use).

*All cards are registered with PriorityClub IDine program for 8 points/dollar at participating restaurants.

Amex also cut rewards for the BCP I saw a couple of months ago. Gotta say for what they charge for that Platinum card cutting rewards isn't really a great idea.

Where did you see that US Bank is phasing out the Cash + card? That's my BEST and favorite card easily. That would royally suck if they do that. 5% on Bill pay is hard to beat. I hope this isn't the case. I'm just trying to find some substantiated info on this, I keep seeing the rumor go around, but I can't find any proof with this one (thankfully!). I sure hope it doesn't happen. I would REALLY hate to lose that card - if I could have only one credit card, that would be the one I'd want.

I do see Discover More/IT (same rewards structure from what I read) is increasing the rewards, according to what Irvine said. That's great.

Another one that this year increased rewards but that probably matters for not too many on here is the Associated Bank Signature Visa. That actually beats Amex BCE in terms of rewards (3% gas, groceries and drugs stores, 1% for all else) where before they had a lower 2% tier in there too.

Sorry, overstated that thing about Cash+. It just appears from the Cash+ thread (the big one) that they're not making it nearly as readily available as they did when they rolled it out. I think they realized it's the kind of card that people like me will only use for the 5% categories.

I need to make some random 1% purchases on there so they don't try to cancel me.

Man, I honestly use that card for everything. If I had to take ONE card that would be it. But, I'm biased I'm sure. I just think it's a great card. From what I read though US Bank may be trimming the rewards. So said a poster on FICO who claims to work for the bank (said it was "too successful" and they had to do something, but that something wasn't described as I guess they are still determining that). I hope they don't really nerf that thing.

I have a friend that works with US Bank. I will check with her to see what the deal is.

If they really need to nerf it, I would suspect some combination of:
    1) Remove the $25 gift card when redeeming $100
    2) Remove the 5% bill pay option (or maybe make it a 2% choice). While any option is open to overspend, this one seems just too open-ended from a bank viewpoint. Or remove insurance from the allowed list
    3) Cap all 5% categories
I would guess 3) would be most likely, in line with other 5% cards

    Hopefully none!

I was looking around at myfico and found this https://apply.usbank.com/apply/apply...RCE_CODE=13013

So I guess if you know the link then you can still apply. Which I like because I'm not sure if my file is ready for that card, but I'd like to take a shot at it next year.
