    Default Best International Credit Card?

I am looking for an international credit card for my parents and wanted to get some feedback.

They are in another country for 1/3 of the year so no foreign transaction fees is a must. Also I was hoping to get one with no annual fee.

The one card I am looking at right now is the Capital One Cash Rewards. This is the one with 1% cash back with a bonus of .5% on your anniversary date. Are there any other cards for international travel that I should consider?

I have the Capitol1 Venture card, there are 2 levels the blue which is the higher level - 2 miles per dollar spent. annual fee waived the first year then 59.00 a year. lower level 1.25 miles per dollar spent 0 annual fee. no foreign transaction fees on international purchases.

You get concierge service, so let's say your parents are coming from Spain to spend a month with you around the holidays, let's say you are in the New York city, I didn't catch your location we'll use New York as an example.

Let's say you both want to go to a Rangers Ottawa Senators all somebody has to do is when they make there travel arrangements, mention the game and the concierge will try and help get them airline travel and hockey tickets. They also help you get the other 3 sports.

They will help you get dinner reservations, If you want them to. I love my capitol1 card, I have the gold venture card.

Discover More, they just took off the foreign transaction fees, no more 2%. The credit card is now 0% internationally.

This is more of a shoppers card. 1% cash back on all purchases, there is a 5% cash back in rotating categoties , ranging from grocery stores, drug stores, home improvement, movies, restaurants and gas stations. From now to April, Discover is giving 5% but you have to sign up for movies, museums and gas stations.

The only problem with Discover is in our country it's not as widely accepted as the other 3.

I would have suggested an American Express card but you mentioned you want an international credit card with a 0 annual fee. Their card with no foreign fees would be 450.00 so I'm leaving this off.

Discover has a another nice card called the Open Road card, usually a card more thought of a business card NOT A COMPANY CARD. You get 2% back on gas and restaurants, so while your parents are visiting you if they need to go to a lot of gas stations and out to restaurants this is a nice card, to think about.

The Citibank Dividend or Select Platinum you get 5% back on gas. Not sure about other purchases, not sure if there's any foreign transaction fees.

Here's a few to look at.

Now for leaving the United states I wouldn't suggest the Discover card, but in the US I would. I have both a Discover More not Open Road and Capitol1 Venture gold card and I love my 2 cards.

Just curious whowong: what country do your parents normally go to? I ask because in some countries, Discover's coverage is actually the best of all the major American networks.

Taiwan. I am not sure what cards are covered the most there but I would assume Visa/Mastercard would have worked well. I might consider that Capital One Venture card, after a certain point, your spending will cover that annual fee.

I remember reading somewhere how Discover is the best option to use in places like China, Japan, and Korea due to its partnerships with those nations' largest banks, more so than Visa and MasterCard.

Hopefully, Taiwan is included in that mix.
