Default FIA Card Services/BofA WorldPoints Mall = Untrustworthy

I routinely access merchant websites via the WorldPoints mall and pay with my Fidelity Amex card (which is offered by FIA Card Services/Bank of America). Normally the bonus points are credited to my account completely and in a timely manner.

However there are several recent transactions, dating back to August and more recent, for which I know that I have not been credited bonus points.

You would think that this could be rectified by calling the bank and alerting them to this, which is what I did.

They have now come back with the assertion that I need to provide them with documentation (emails of purchase confirmations/receipts). There is no reason why this should be necessary as they have a record of the transaction, its date and amount and know which merchant it was.

The customer rep I just spoke with blatantly lied to me by saying they needed the receipt to help verify that I accessed the merchant website via the WorldPoints mall website. I don't believe there is any way they can tell this from a purchase confirmation email. Further, if they want to "research" the matter of how the website was contacted, they would need to take it up with the merchant.

I have spent tens of thousands of dollars using my FIA Cards in just the last 12 months, and my customer history with them goes back years.

Please feel free to share your experiences with FIA/WorldPoints.

I agree with you the customer representative lied to you. they absolutely should have records of which merchant you shopped at and the transaction.

all they want you to do is shop on their site, at there mall so they get most of the money. they want you to help them make money. if you buy travelers checks then you get nothing back it's all about helping them out.

have you called a couple of times? I've found out sometimes when you ask different reps the same question you get different answers. or have you only called once?

I've called twice and received a response in the mail that basically said I'm probably out of luck. I've moved on. However, the lesson here is to save your email order confirmations/receipts from online merchants at least until you confirm that your points mall bonuses have posted to your account.

I save my email receipts and I never noticed any difference between those done through a program and those that are not. I have never used the Worldpoints program. The linking between the program site and shopping site is all done with cookies. I know Discover sends out 'you've earned bonus points' emails. I think Chase does too, but I'm unsure which Chase program it was, now it's only Ultimate Rewards.

Are you sure you didn't violate the terms? They are getting more and more stringent with these. An excluded item or a coupon code could void it.

he did nothing to violate any terms. Fidelity is just being selfish they could check the Worldpoints mall records. they just don't want to give him his points which is real mean.

I took a look at this site while at FIA, it looks exactly like 'Add It Up' from BoA. I made one transaction there (BoA) and I didn't get my points so I will never use it again.

I just had a bunch of WorldPoints bonus points come through on my account. Some of them probably were those whose absence I was disputing. It is possible, as RF says above, that a coupon code could have voided some of my points. While I still think some are missing, I've calmed down about it. I've made $106 in WP bonus points since I've been using the points mall; that doesn't include the base points I got for those purchases, too.
