I routinely access merchant websites via the WorldPoints mall and pay with my Fidelity Amex card (which is offered by FIA Card Services/Bank of America). Normally the bonus points are credited to my account completely and in a timely manner.
However there are several recent transactions, dating back to August and more recent, for which I know that I have not been credited bonus points.
You would think that this could be rectified by calling the bank and alerting them to this, which is what I did.
They have now come back with the assertion that I need to provide them with documentation (emails of purchase confirmations/receipts). There is no reason why this should be necessary as they have a record of the transaction, its date and amount and know which merchant it was.
The customer rep I just spoke with blatantly lied to me by saying they needed the receipt to help verify that I accessed the merchant website via the WorldPoints mall website. I don't believe there is any way they can tell this from a purchase confirmation email. Further, if they want to "research" the matter of how the website was contacted, they would need to take it up with the merchant.
I have spent tens of thousands of dollars using my FIA Cards in just the last 12 months, and my customer history with them goes back years.
Please feel free to share your experiences with FIA/WorldPoints.
