Default Chase Ultimate Rewards and Amtrak Guest Rewards

The website for the Amtrak Guest Rewards loyalty program says members can transfer at 1:1 ratio 1,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Amtrak Guest Rewards and provides a hyperlink to Chase Ultimate Rewards website to do so.

However, the Ultimate Rewards website does not have any facility to transfer points to Amtrak Guest Rewards. A Chase rep. told me that he knew nothing about this and supposedly sent an email to the marketing department that handles Ultimate Rewards to figure things out.

The Amtrak Guest Reward rep I spoke with also did not know anything.

Either Chase needs to provide a facility to transfer points from Ultimate Rewards to Amtrak Guest Rewards or Amtrak needs to take down the transfer offer and link from its website.

BTW, this issue has nothing to do with the Amtrak-branded Chase credit card. Nor is what Amtrak is promising anything like Chase Ultimate Rewards facility to buy travel gift cards with UR points.

Chase and Amtrak both failed miserably in not knowing what's on their websites or what their marketing departments are doing. I know the only way I'll get a straight answer from either is when they respond to my complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

    Absolutely ridiculous.

    I just tried it.

This is what I was greeted with.

No results found for search "null"
That is a good deal, if you can get it to work.

I was offered, for 900 points, a CD titled "Amtrak Blues".

The reason the link from Amtrak didn't work is because you can only transfer Ultimate Rewards points to Amtrak Guest Rewards points if you have the Chase Sapphire Preferred or Ink cards...all of the other cards that earn Ultimate Rewards points (like the Freedom and the standard Sapphire) are not eligible for the transfer, which quite frankly sucks.

That's what I eventually found out, Fantum. I told Amtrak and Chase that fact should be reflected on their websites to avoid misleading people as I was.
