Denied for credit card with good credit?
I applied for the Ctiti Platinum select /AAdvantage World mastercard account.
I was denied for the following reason:
Too few satisfactory references were recorded on your credit report.
- I have had a BAVisa since 1978 with a $21000 monthly spending limit
- I also have a citicard since 1998 with a $10,000 Monthly spending Limit
- I have always paid what I owed every month, meaning I have never had any interest to pay.
- I own a house with a $560 monthly mortgage payment whose balance I could pay easily off if I wanted
- I have absolutely no other debt.
What do they want more if someone have an idea what I would need to show them to qualify.
Based on my info above, will I always be denied any request for any credit card offering Mileage like Capital One, America Express etc.
I have asked Citi bank what I needed to show. They refuse to answer that question.
Thank you

Have you checked your credit report to make sure you have not been the victim of fraud? Did you apply over the phone, on the internet or by post? You should call them and talk to a recon specialist, you might have mistyped your SSN or yearly income.

They're required to send you your credit report and score when they deny you credit, so I would check that to make sure there's nothing that's been reported incorrectly on there.
Like zapper mentioned, calling them is probably your best option if you haven't yet received your notice by mail about the free report/score.

It is also possible that your monthly use of your current credit cards are very low. A very low usage of the credit cards would meant that you do not need a credit card since you are not using it much. The ideal use of any credit card is at least 30% of your credit limit. If you are doing this, probably DarrellEW and zapper's advice to check your credit report and score.

Nic, the idea with Chase is stupidity at it very best. If you read my posts about Chase, it will probably explain why you were declined. They approved me for a freedom card with 14% APR but will not lower my APR on my Amazon card opened somewhere 2003 / 2004. Explanation: Late payment back in 2005 but at the same time they upgraded my Amazon card to a Visa Signature with no limit.
A supervisor recently denied my last request to lower the rate so i can maintain a balance with them but offered me statement credit of 125.00
The United ATM card i had was always charged two separate memberships yearly.
1. To Participate in the program (25.00)
2. To have the card and get miles (65.00)
Nothing about the business tactics of this bank makes any sense to me. Why did i just apply for the freedom card if i dislike the bank? Free 200.00 Dollars after spending 500.00 which is all i ever spend on that card.
