Default WTF? Bank of America American Express worldpoints rewards?

Got a checking and savings at Bank of America and a couple weeks ago I was hustled to apply for their American Express credit card and like an idiot I took the bait without researching it first.

My card comes in the mail yesterday and it is an American Express but uses wordpoints rewards???? I was under the impression my card would be membership rewards points because it is an American Express. This worldpoints program is not what I was expecting. I thought that was a Mastercard program??????

WorldPoints is the Bank of America/FIA Card Services rewards program. It is not affiliated with Amex in any way. Your card says "American Express" on it but that is only because it uses the Amex network, instead of, for instance, Visa or MC. The only true American Express cards come from Amex itself.

I have a FIA Card Services Fidelity Amex and I find it to be superior to the Amex cards I've had in the past, for rewards, points mall bonus points and customer service.
    CARDS (and why)
FIA Card Services: Fidelity Amex (best cash back excepting 5% cards), Fidelity Visa (spare)
Chase: Freedom (only for 5% reward categories, purchases under $10), Sapphire (not in use), Amazon Rewards (for Amazon purchases only)
CapitalOne: No Hassle Rewards (no foreign transaction fee, my only MasterCard, not in use)
Amex: Blue Cash Everyday (not in use)
Discover: More (only for 5% reward categories)

If it's cash back you are after the World Points are actually a better value than using Membership Reward points for cash. The only major drawback though with the BofA AmEx World Points rewards is that you have to redeem a hefty sum at a time in order to get the penny per point conversion.
