Default Best car rental rewards program!

I just love this forum! This is a two part question because I want to know what the best car rental rewards program (through the rental company) and what the best credit card program is that gives the most points/cash back/miles when I rent a car.

I do rent quite a bit from Avis but their loyalty program isn't much use to me because the rewards are for things like weekend days and I am almost never traveling on the weekend for work. By the way I say for work but mind you I am self employed and all extra savings translate into higher pay for me. In the regions I travel most car rental companies are available and I suppose there is no preference for one or the other if I can save more.

Another important note is that class upgrades are meaningless to me. I am perfectly contempt with driving a small or midsize car that's cheaper. I would much rather pay less for a compact then pay the compact price for a higher class.

I am all ears for any ideas you guys may have!

since you own your own business and you travel during the week, what do you think about an American express gold corporate card? I would imagine this would be appropriate for you.

you might also want to look at the Discover escape and miles card. Not sure how the car rental rewards work, but you might want to call them up and ask some questions on those 2 cards.

chase sapphire is an excellent card for business but not sure how good they are when it comes to car rentals. when you get time you might want to stop off at your local branch and ask them some questions.

best car rental places I would say Hertz, avis and national car rental. how good are they with rewards that I don't know.

I cannot answer your question but as far as car rental rewards programs through credit cards, it's easy to get a good deal, even from some cards that have no annual fee. Check this out: American Express Car Rental Deals
Disclosure: I am a moderator/paid staff of this site, which does have advertising relationships with some credit cards that are discussed. Regardless, anything I say is my honest opinion.

    Current Cards:
American Express: Blue Cash, Simply Cash Bank of America: WorldPoints Platinum Plus Chase: Amazon, British Airways, Cash Plus Rewards, Freedom, Ink Cash Citi: Thank You Premier, Dividend Platinum Select Discover: More
Primary Everyday Card: American Express Blue Cash
Primary Travel Card: Citi Thank You Premier

I use Thrifty and the money i saved over Hertz and Avis was worth twice the points/rewards. My Monthly rental with hertz was 1400s and Avis almost more, Thrifty gave me a midsize car for 860 and a free upgrade to fullsize. They also sent me two free rental certs last month.
Call the multi month dept and tell them you are renting for business.
