Thread: AMEX Membership Rewards vs Membership Rewards Express?

What is the difference between American Express Membership Rewards and the Membership Rewards Express program and why doesn't the AMEX website explain the difference clearly? I am getting really frustrated with their website and the lack of explanations and details for things like this and other benefits. I read everything and many unanswered questions remain.

I could be mistaken but I was studying the American Express offerings and the cards that use the Membership Rewards Express are the Green, Blue regular and Zync. Their website does do a bad job explaining where the programs differ.

Both are the same value but you can transfer your points int o airline miles with the full membership rewards program. Everything else is the same.

Thank you for the replies! If that's the case is there any worthwhile reason for the average person to shell out more money to get the Gold cards with the regular Amex Membership Rewards program? Because I don't foresee using my points on airfare and if the points are worth the exact same otherwise then I can't see how American Express can justify the differences in annual fees.

You do get a lot of extra things for your annual fee. If you compare the benefits in detail you will see. Also, the different cards allow you to earn points differently and different promos for earning like bonus points for travel, gas and groceries.
