About LinkBacksI frequent a few merchants who only accept MasterCard. My favorite reward is cash back credited to my account on a monthly basis - I never carry a balance. The last few years, I have enjoyed the Sunoco Platinum MasterCard, which offered 4% cash back on Sunoco gas and 1% cash back everywhere else, but Citi recently canceled this credit card program.
What's the best MasterCard cash back rewards program going these days?

There was someone on here recently asking the same thing but for Visa. The merchants you mentioned that only accept MasterCard, do they take Visa too? If they do I would broaden your horizons and give equal weight to both cash back MasterCards and Visa cards. Both are only payment networks and have anything to do with the card other than processing the transactions of their networks.

Thanks for the suggestion. They only take MasterCard and I have a great VISA card. The best MasterCard I've found so far is from CapitalOne. There seems to be a big gap between MasterCard and VISA programs and I'm wondering if it's only that I'm not aware of some great MasterCard programs?

As you stated at times it can appear there is a gap between Visa and MasterCard cash back programs. This is due to Visa being a larger company with a slightly larger presence in the United States. For decades banks were forced to choose either MasterCard or Visa; as co-issuance was not permitted by either network. Anti-trust and other legal actions changed that and it has only been during the last several years that banks could use both. In turn you now find most credit card companies offering both, however it doesn't necessarily mean both options are available on a given card.
Chase Freedom is one such card that is offered in both the Visa and MasterCard version. Although the Visa is more heavily advertised it is still possible to find sign up offers for the MasterCard version, which I believe to be the best cash back MasterCard available right now. I also need a 2% Cash back mastercard...doesn't seem like one exists.

I just recently came across one. I tried to pay for an online class at Northern Arizona university. They take Amex, MC, echeck, but no visa

Here's why the school doesn't take Visa for tuition:
Here's an explanation from WikipediaWhy is VISA no longer accepted for tuition and other charges posted to the students account?
VISA’s rules do not permit the university to charge a percentage fee. VISA rules require a flat fee to be charged for all payment types which would include e-Check payments.
The school also says there's a service fee for using credit cards which may negate any rewards.
