    Default Retailer loyalty programs

    Sometimes loyalty programs from retailers offer better cash back than credit cards. For instance, auto zone has auto zone rewards where you make 5 purchases totalling 20 dollars or more and get a 20 dollar credit toward the next purchase. Combine this with a rewards credit card and you are that much better off. What other retailer offers some kind of loyalty card or loyalty rewards?

    I get an awfully good deal with Drugstore.com and my Discover card. Drugstore.com is part of the Shop Discover program and that gets a 15% rebate to my credit card. Drugstore.com stated doing a 5% quarterly rebate on all purchase and that works out to be 20%. The site is based in Ohio and there are no sales tax on my orders since I live in Florida. All in all it saves me a good deal of money.

    CVS Extra Bucks is the first that comes to mind for retailer loyalty programs. Use along with a credit card that offers additional rewards at drugstores.

    Cost Plus World Markets has a surprisingly retail loyalty rewards program. You can pick up non-perishable foods there like sauces, pastas and drinks. I get coupons all the time for $10 off a $30 purchase and I think in addition you get a $10 rebate every quarter you spend more than a hundred bucks.

    For books you can't beat the Borders program. Barnes and Noble typically charges full MSRP on books but with Borders coupons for 33% to 40% any item show up in my inbox every few days.

    The loyalty rewards program is free and there is a premium program available for $20-30.
