Is There "Smart" way to Spend Ultimate Rewards(Chase) if I Only Have the Freedom Card

Postby niagarabottlingllc » Wed Mar 26, 2014 7:20 pm

Most if not all the tips I found online for maximizing Ultimate Rewards from Chase only applies when you have one of their "premium" line of cards like the Ink or Saphirre preferred, where you're allowed to transfer over your chase points to a frequent flier program or something along those lines and get more value per ultimate reward point. But for someone like me that only has the Freedom card which doesn't allow that kind of service, is my only option to spend my points at a 1:1 rate ie. 100 points = $1?

I remember they used to offer occasional gift card bonuses of 10% when redeeming with points. I have not done much shopping on the ur mall using points but the few times I did look it was valued under 1 cent per point. On the bright side, you probably got more than 1 point per dollar spent. I think that's most important to remember

Options for Freedom are pretty limited when it comes to UR redemption. Freedom is really marketed as a cash-back card. On the plus side, you can still find discounted gift cards in the UR mall as was mentioned above. When redeeming for cash/ statement credit it is strictly 1 cent per point...

Without transfers discounted gift cards are probably your best bet if the cards are useful to you.

While it's still just 100 points:$1 you might also want to consider partners like Amazon for points redemption.
