Here's how I have my rewards setup among 3 cards

Postby PowerMan572 » Mon Feb 10, 2014 1:24 am

I'm "new" to credit cards after using my debit card for the past 3 - 4 years and having only store credit cards to help rebuild my credit after hitting hard times back in 2009/2010. Here is how I have my 3 credit cards that I will use on EVERYTHING to get the max rewards (no more debit card!)

1. Barclaycard Arrival - $1,200 limit - [Will use to buy cell phones every week for my online eBay store. I buy cell phones and turn around and sell them for a profit. I will have to post payments to the account before the end of the month to free up available credit since the limit is on the lower end.]

2. Amex Blue Cash Preferred - $unknown limit (was just approved and they didn't tell me.) - [Will use ONLY for grocery and gas. My partner and I ONLY shop at Whole Foods and we easily spend $600/month there.]

3. Capital One Venture - $5k limit - [Will use for everything else. Target, dining, etc.]

All cards will be paid off monthly or before the statement even arrives  Lifestyle has changed (for the better) graduated with a BA in Information Technology and working for the Federal Government! Woop! woop! Life is a roller coaster, you have your ups and downs :ppp

So Capital One STILL didn't ship the card after 3 days of being approved. I just called them to tell them I was going on a trip next week and the guy shipped it out USPS Express Mail :ppp

Technically I'm not going on a trip, but I am booking a trip and I want to hurry and get the card before prices go up! So either way they're still going to make money from me.

After researching Google I couldn't believe how long Capital One takes to process cards and mail them!

EDIT: Oh, and I wanted to get the miles ;-) I didn't want to pay with my debit card, because a $2k hotel charge is going to automatically qualify me for the 20k signup bonus. Aghh, I love these signup bonuses! Simply amazing!

I just got the Discover IT. The $150 signup bonus (for $750 in purchases within 3 months) was the tipping point in that decision.
