Does Chase Price Protection cover airline tickets?

Postby wiivile » Wed Dec 04, 2013 8:44 am

I want to book a flight using points on my CSP via the UR mall (because I can't find any availability transferring them to United), but the flights on the UR mall are always more expensive than when booking with Kayak or directly with the airline. If I purchase the flight on the UR mall and submit a "Price Protection" claim showing a lower price from the airline, will they refund the difference?

Just as a general comment, I find flights on the UR mall to be always overpriced compared to sites like Kayak. Very frustrating.

You'd have to refer to the Guide to Benefits that came with the card. I don't recall all the details off the top of my head and don't see it posted on their site.

Is your airline not a transfer partner?

I need to fly on specific dates and the reward availability is thin... that's why I'm using the UR Mall to book flights.

I've always found UR flights to be the same price as the airline website. I'm not a frequent Kayak user, but I'm pretty sure they offer the same prices as the airline sites as well.

The UR Mall also offers 2 extra points per $ on Travelocity and 1 extra point on Orbitz and Priceline.

Price protection on airline tickets: I believe the answer is no. Price protection doesn't cover items that fluctuate regularly.

That would make sense. Imagine the headache the creditor would create for itself fielding all of these price change requests + they'd almost always lose money -- which isn't their short- or long-term goal. :)

I'd be booking through the UR mall to save 20% on points, not for the extra point per $.
